Managing Sites

This page explains how to create and delete sites. A site represents a building or logical grouping of classrooms in your campus.

Role Required: Admin

You need the Admin role to create or delete sites.

Prerequisites

  • You must be logged in with an Admin account

What Is a Site?

A site is the top level of the Campus WoL hierarchy. It typically represents a physical building (e.g., "Science Building" or "Library"), but you can use it for any logical grouping that makes sense for your organization.

Sites contain classrooms, and classrooms contain devices. You must create at least one site before you can add classrooms or devices.

Creating a Site

  1. Navigate to Inventory in the Administration sidebar
  2. Click Add Site
  3. Enter a name for the site (e.g., "Engineering Building")
  4. Enter a label (a short identifier used in the interface)
  5. Click Save

The new site appears in the Sites & Classrooms sidebar tree immediately.

Tip

Choose descriptive names that your team will recognize. Names like "Building A" are less helpful than "Science Building" or "West Campus Library."

Deleting a Site

  1. Navigate to Inventory in the Administration sidebar
  2. Locate the site you want to remove
  3. Click the Delete button next to the site
  4. Confirm the deletion when prompted

Deleting a site removes all its classrooms and devices

When you delete a site, all classrooms within it and all devices within those classrooms are also removed from inventory. This action cannot be undone.

Limitations

Sites cannot be edited after creation. If you need to change a site's name or label, delete the site and create a new one with the correct details. Be aware that deleting a site also removes all of its classrooms and devices.

Site Hierarchy

The relationship between sites, classrooms, and devices is:

  • Site (e.g., "Science Building")
    • Classroom (e.g., "Lab 204")
      • Device (e.g., "PC-01", "Projector-01")
    • Classroom (e.g., "Lab 210")
      • Device (e.g., "PC-01")
